Some of our third-party service providers, including Formspree, are located in or operate infrastructure in the United States. 5. Data Retention

• Inquiry and contact data (form submissions, email inquiries with no subsequent engagement): retained for up to 2 years from the date of last contact, then deleted or anonymized.
• Transaction and business records (freight quotes, rate confirmations, shipment records, and related business correspondence): retained for 7 years from the date of the transaction, consistent with applicable Canadian and U.S. tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
• Legal hold: where personal information is subject to a legal hold, dispute, or regulatory inquiry, it will be retained for the duration of that matter regardless of the above periods.

6. Your Rights — Canadian Residents

Residents of Alberta, Canada have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Residents in other Canadian provinces have rights under applicable provincial legislation or the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). These rights include:

No opt-out action is required, but you may confirm this in writing by contacting us at info@bytelane.ca.
• Non-discrimination: Byte Lane will not deny you services, charge you different prices, provide a different level of service quality, or retaliate against you in any way for exercising your privacy rights under applicable law.

To submit a data request, contact us at info@bytelane.ca or by phone at (825) 551-1011. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days. If additional time is required, we will notify you of the extension and the reason for it. We will not charge a fee for verifiable consumer requests unless they are manifestly unfounded or excessive.

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. Verification may include confirming your name, email address, and the nature of your prior interaction with Byte Lane. You may submit a request on your own behalf or through an authorized agent. If you use an authorized agent, we require written confirmation of the agent's authorization along with verification of your identity.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

This section applies specifically to residents of California and supplements the general rights described in Section 7.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights:

• Right to Know: request that Byte Lane disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you in the preceding 12 months, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purpose for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom the information is shared.
• Right to Access: request a portable copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to Correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information in our records.
• Right to Delete: request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to applicable exceptions.
• Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: Byte Lane does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents do not need to take any action to opt out.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: Byte Lane does not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted by the CPRA. No limitation request is required.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: Byte Lane will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

Submitting a California Privacy Request

You may make a request to know or access up to twice per 12-month period, free of charge. We will respond within 45 calendar days. If we require additional time (up to an additional 45 days), we will notify you in writing of the reason and the extended response period.

California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit a CCPA/CPRA request on their behalf. The authorized agent must provide written documentation of their authorization, and Byte Lane may require the consumer to verify their identity directly with us.

Financial Incentives

Byte Lane does not offer financial incentives in exchange for the retention or sale of personal information.

9. Commercial Electronic Messages (CASL)

If you have provided express consent to receive commercial electronic messages from Byte Lane — such as freight market updates, lane insights, or company news — we will use the email address you provided to send those communications. You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@bytelane.ca with the subject line “Unsubscribe,” or by following the unsubscribe instructions included in any message we send. Withdrawal of consent does not affect service-related communications sent in connection with an active inquiry or engagement. Byte Lane complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for all commercial electronic messages.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

11. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Links to Third-Party Sites
